So what’s it going to be? Shave or spray? Whatever your choice – it is certainly a small price to pay in the fight against cancer.
For more than 80 years Cansa (The Cancer Association of South Africa) has raised awareness and support in the fight against cancer; last year’s Cansa Shavathon raised R7.1 million and was rolled out to 220 offices and 250 shopping centres.
This year’s event, the 9th Cansa Shavathon, will be hosted from 1 to 4 March at offices and shopping centres across the country. Be sure to join in the fun-filled support, either by shaving off your hair or getting a temporary spray job for just R50 (R25 for kids under 12).
All proceeds go to Cansa’s research and education programmes and you get to sport the classic shave or spray look that signals your support for cancer survivors.
Style it up a bit with stencils such as a star, butterfly, lightning bolt or soccer ball, to truly make the best of your spray- or shave-do.
You can also make your R50 contribution online before the event and have your ponytail (20cm or longer) donated to a wig-making company, which in turn donates 10% of every wig sold. Read more about the wigs here learn more about becoming a Cansa Shavathon volunteer.

Look of the Day
A man’s suit is his most definitive wardrobe necessity. The suit is professional and neat; masculine and refined; sophisticated and slick – a show of a man’s attitude to life.
The single-breasted, standard classic is on trend for suit styles in 2012. It is simple yet impeccably tailored and masculine with a strong 1960s influence. Detailing is reserved to notched lapels and a breast pocket cut to a pocket square. For added stylish flair, go for peaked lapels reminiscent of the 1930s and 1970s plus a decoratively folded handkerchief pocket as opposed to a plain pocket square.
When it comes to the double-breasted suit, avoid the boxy look, opt for a cut that broadens the shoulders and trims the waist. Look snazzy in a double breasted Kent-cut, where the lapel extends to the waist and try a shawl lapel as opposed to peaked.
The three piece with waist coat returns and should be matched in the same colour and fabric as the other two suit items. Trendy suit fabrics include wool, linen, cotton and velvet. Suit patterns are a choice of Glen plaid, Damier check, Herringbone, Harris Tweed, Pinstripe and Rope-stripe. Also preferable to stick to one or two button suits. Remember padded shoulders create a silhouette of broad shoulders and built arms.
Grey, black and navy remain classic suit colours but don’t be afraid to add some colour now and again for a more updated feel.
Jeremia Tshabalala, spotted at Sandton city, wears a suit for work and loves it. He pulls off a tailored three button suit in pinstripe and accessorises with an orange tie and hankerchief and black square toe shoes.

Slap™ watches are the latest fad to hit our shores. If you haven’t already slapped one on, here’s why you should:
The Slap™ watch is a silicone watch band with a spring coil action that easily slaps onto your wrist, pretty much like those slap bracelets that were hugely popular in the 90s. The Slap™ watch is a novel time piece with an air of nostalgic cool, just like - as were Vanilla Ice, the discman and Tomagotchi.
The interchangeable watch face and band comes in 11 trendy colours like Purple Berry, Sunset Orange and Alabaster White. Mix and match 121 possible colour combinations to perfectly colour co-ordinate any outfit, a versatile fashion accessory for any occasion.
For an added glamorous edge the watches also come with bling watch faces and chic animal print inspired bands.
The Slap™ watch is eye-catching wrist candy to say the least. Its sleek design and racy colours also make it quite a fashion statement.
The watches are available in standard and Slap junior sizes from R249 to R499. They are easy to maintain and are water resistant. They make great gifts too.
Visit www.slapwatchsa.co.za to try out the right colour combinations that appeal to you before you buy.
